Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts
Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts, oh my!
And here I was sure they were friends.
Bela, one night, for my neck did try,
till his cape got caught on the fence!
Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts, good gawd!
Am I dreaming or is it all true?
When Lon grew a beard I found it quite odd,
was it real or he used super glue?
Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts, good lord!
Am I in Transylvania or what?
Casper came callin' one night, I was bored,
and then green-slimed me right 'cross the gut!
Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts, oh please!
I say enough is enough is enough!
I wish to gawd these wackos would cease,
before I grow fangs, turn into a wolf!
Werewolves, vampires, and ghosts, all gone!
In reality, they never were there.
But thank you for coming along on the con,
truth took to flight on a wing and a prayer!
Cry of the Banshee
I heard a wail so soft and low,
from the wood I caught an eerie glow.
As the night wore on 'twas louder yet,
I laid there still, did moan and fret.
To what did the lonesome cry portend?
I shivered to think 'twas near the end.
Could it be the death of a man was nigh?
I waited for my answer from up on high.
The men who dress in long white robes,
who spread their lies across this globe.
See there! Some who dress in red!
Their councils and decrees fill men with dread.
But the one who holds that staff so tight,
the one who's conquered in his might,
was he the one for whom she wailed,
or will they all go down unveiled?
The sound did fade as the dawn did break,
I turned on the news, now barely awake.
Lo and behold! The CITY had fallen.
The faces of many had now grown sullen.
Never again will her voice ever rise.
Never again will she give out advice.
Never again will she preach for a price.
What He Noticed
He noticed that her hair was as blonde as the sun,
perfectly brushed, hanging loosely about her shoulders.
He noticed that her lips were as red as crimson,
curled slightly up, in an everlasting smile.
He noticed that her wedding ring glistened in the light,
a band of gold, a reminder of good times past.
He noticed that her eyes were closed as if asleep,
those beautiful blues, the windows to her soul.
But what he noticed most of all was a heart no longer beating,
a chest no longer rising and falling with breath.
"This deafening silence; O to hear her laugh once again!"
As she lay there now in her eternal bedchamber,
her lifeless body as still as the hands of a broken timepiece,
he couldn't help notice, no, he couldn't help but notice...
That his life would never be the same.
On Bended Knee
On bended knee he knelt, and asked her for her hand.
She shed a little tear, together they would stand.
They'd build a life as one, he'd love her through the years.
She'd gladly bear his son, he'd help her with her fears.
The years went by so fast, gray hairs and weathered skin.
Yet still their love held fast, they stayed through thick and thin.
Children came and children went, now grand-babes on the way.
They couldn't wait to hold them, nor could they wait to play.
Then one cold winter night, he caught a fevered chill.
She doctored him with love, he took her little pills.
His fever never left, the days grew cold and hard.
She dreamt of days gone by, him working in the yard.
When it seemed that all was lost, and he was near the end,
she got on bended knee, knelt down beside her friend.
She looked up to the heavens, and prayed with all her might.
If only He would hear, then things would be alright.
As she looked into the night, the moon cast such a glow!
The stars were shining bright
Sweet Nectar of Life!
I would scale the highest mountain
I would sail the stormy seas
I would walk through cactus gardens
crawl through brier on my knees
I would fly clear up to Heaven
I would dig through earth below
I would place my bet on seven
put on quite an evening show
I would search through every cave
I would climb the highest tree
I would jump and act so brave
everyone would root for me
I would wish to end all strife
I would pine for endless days
Suck the nectar of sweet life
Live forever in His ways
Colors blending endlessly,
through hazy filtered sun.
Textures changing seamlessly,
now morphing into one.
Astral terrace beckons me,
Venus calls my name.
Floating high above the trees,
red skies are set aflame.
Prophets lament to the end,
are better days to come?
Hearts of men forever blend,
cold minds no longer numb.
Rainbows arc to worlds unknown,
hope thus springs eternal.
Hallowed paths to me were shown,
life's forgotten journal.
Swirly clouds are up above,
green grass beneath my feet.
Lover's hand fits like a glove,
my dream is now complete.
Cosmic dance above my head,
colors that blend sublime.
Blues and greens and striking reds,
I'm lost in space and time.
Such scenes inspire dreamers,
it's nature at it's best!
Poets, artists, believers,
translating beauty's fest.
Thoughts drift to my city home,
the foul polluted air.
Smog creates a poisoned dome,
yet no one seems to care.
Planet earth, a 'jewel in space',
or so the traveler said.
That saying now seems out of place,
a 'nest befouled' instead.
But for now I watch the lights,
and dream of better things.
A future day when earth is right,
and harmony takes wing.
In Grandpa's Eyes
From the time that she could walk and talk
she could never quite get it right.
Her mommy would call her spiteful names
and then scream "Get out of my sight!"
Nothing she did was ever enough
no matter how hard she would try.
The pictures that she would draw for mom
never got more than the usual sigh.
But when she would go to grandpa's house
greyish skies would turn sunny blue.
In grandpa's eyes she could do no wrong;
his love for her was kind and true.
Her grandma had been ill for some time
making it hard for grandpa to cope.
But when she came with those dark brown eyes
her visits would fill them with hope.
By the time that she was twelve years old
her dear grandma had passed away.
Her mother had found a new lover;
they left her and went their own way.
Alone and afraid and feeling low;
suddenly, a knock at the door!
Grandpa was there to rescue his girl...
and he promised to be there for her evermore!
The Little Boy
The little boy prayed that perhaps one day,
his mommy and daddy with him would play.
Mommy seemed too busy with him to stay,
daddy's never home to play anyway.
He prayed this way...
Dear Father in heaven I love you so,
hear these words from Tommy down here below.
I promise to be good, and this I know,
your love is like a river, it ever flows.
He went to bed and dreamt the night away,
playful dreams and happy thoughts did hold sway.
When he rose he hoped today would be the day,
that mommy and daddy with him would stay.
But as he looked around, he knew they'd gone,
off to live their lives leaving him alone.
The nanny made him toast, gave the dog a bone,
nothing really changes here in this home.
But as he slept that night, a voice so calm,
said: "Listen to me son, my little Tom.
Your prayer to me was like a pleasant Psalm,
your words to me felt like a soothing balm."
The very next day as he awoke from sleep,
his mom and dad were there, it made him weep.
The promises they mad
When one door closes...I’ve heard the saying
When one door closes, another opens,
I felt the disconnect and the lock clicked shut
It closed for just a moment
Then opened so hard
That it spun me
I went down in a haze of mixed emotions,
Not over my loss but feeling for you,
My wants mangling each other,
Eating each other alive,
Until there was nothing left
When the tears stopped
and you were there, waiting
I ran toward you
Wanting change, wanting freedom
Embracing an uncertain future
Your eyes were like the ocean
A swirling punch bowl of blue and white,
So inviting in their dance
So severe was the pull of your undertow
That I dove right in
Without a life preserver
Through your door I swam
With a tail like a mermaid
Propelling me face first
Into your warm water embrace,
With a smile
Meant just for you
It wasn’t what I wanted
At the time...
It was unexpected,
It was love laid out at my feet
In a trail of hot sand
That burned my toes
Until you carried me
Secret WoodI am lost in the verdant green,
a jungle of star-shaped leaves
that travel among the seas
and linger in my eyes.
And I am soaring high...
With the tranquil evening air,
the whispers of my prayers
that flicker everywhere
into the magical fusion.
This is my summer illusion...
To behold the very sight
of a youthful fairy's night.
it only lasts a little whileat the bottom
in the desperate
sunlight & waves
cut by ships
trembling as the water
hollow bodies restless
waiting for the sun
Tears of an angelTears of an angel
Slid slowly down her face
The origins of emotion
Back to me they have traced
I have made many young mistakes
But no failure can compare
To the beautiful heaven sent angel
I left alone and in despair
I'm an enemy to the world
For robbing them of her smile
If the planets only had eyes
They would line up, single file
If the sun could feel her touch
It would shine twice as bright
And the moon and stars would dance
At such a marvelous sight
But alas the sun shines low
And the moon and stars sit still
Because they drown in the tears of an angel
And heaven sits in wait for the kill
An ode to a certain beautyThere's a certain beauty
That has captured my eye
Her friendship would behoove me
I can not pass her by
She may not be pencil thin
but to me, that is okay
She won't be taken by the wind
So her body I will not trade.
She may not be Americas top model
but there's no doubt that she is fine
The space between our eyes like tunnels
Their beauty traveling into my mind.
She may not be the next Einstein
But she is smart enough for me
She says the right thing at the right time
And puts my heart at ease
She may not be perfect to others
but everyone makes mistakes
The only real crime she has ever mustered
Was the taking of my heart today
She may not be be real popular
but she is just enough to make me laugh
She isn't scared of a little dirt
And always knows how to have a blast
So that's how I feel about this girl
How I fight to make her mine
but hopefully I'm the last man in the world
or she believes that "Love is blind"
So if you happen to see my girl
Pass this message, and be so kind
Far AwayI don’t see how you could want anything from me.
I’m cold and I’m gone and I won’t ever be
There for you, even though I know how you
Need me to; it’s what I want too.
But I’m lost in a land far away from all others.
It’s dark and unknown without my sisters and brothers,
So I scream out. Why am I lost in this way?
Why do I watch you all suffer and do nothing every single day?
I know that all that I am to the people around
Is a cruel twister of words who brings everyone down.
That’s all I am to me, at least.
But there are people who stick around this cruel beast.
So I can’t be all that terrible, right?
If so, why do I feel like a pitiably sad sight?
The alone artistShe's an artist
And she's determinate!
She's in love forever,
With her best friend!
She's going to pray,
She's going to do anything it takes,
Not to lose her,
Even if she will always stay friend.
She's going to stay with her!
Forever as the best friend ever,
She's going to be forever alone,
Without even complaining.
She's never gonna know,
The taste of her lips.
Never gonna be love like she wants,
And she's gonna love her friend all along!
She will always love her!
She will protect her,
Staying by her sides,
Without caring of her own heart.
She will never fully accept
Who she truly is.
And will never stop,
Loving for nothing.
She'll always try to be happy,
But deep in her heart,
She'll be a sad heartbroken.
She will always be: The alone artist,
The alone artist I am,
'Cause I am her.
Forever alone heartbroken,
Living forever, an impossible love!
love is the spatter of sill on bitter sun. blue slept sea blinking, smiling- lean in little forests of me. love blooms from lily buds, my half broken heart sinking, dying. but dear- had i loved you from the start.
blue eyes stare in empty green, cradle in wood white, loving me more by more, and all between. feelings- fills me- with sighs (to fill this empty space). oh but i am ocean, sea lover & you are forest, with folding green leaves. too blinded with love to ever see, we will never seem to be the same. not quite meant to be.
Yours, my love
You are the light that still shines on me
FOr you I will pine eternally
YoU were the one who did set me free
YouR love will always my comfort be
RoseS smell sweetest, my fragrant plea
SouL unto soul and heart unto heart
FoOlish is one who would tear this apart
EVery love has hardhips right from the start
Eternity's for those who choose ne'er to part
