What Dreams May ComeAs I lay me down to sleep I dream of tales untold.
Lovers who can drive me wild and some who leave me cold.
Bitter dreams of bitter things and sometimes streets of gold.
Dreams of timid angels and of some who herald bold.
Flying high o'er barren lands and seas of aqua hue.
I relish sights unseen and cherish every hidden view.
Earth relinquished planet Janus now is born anew.
Wondering if truths held dear were ever really true.
Heaven's carriage with no riders sailing toward the moon.
Wishing wells and private hells and Macy's day balloons.
Under water still can breathe a miracle lagoon.
Living happy dancing slowly singing lovesick tunes.
As I lay me down to sleep I dream of tales untold.
Some are newly painted and some dreams are really old.
Never given thought to meanings as these do unfold.
Waking hours living life have kept my dreams on hold.
From the time she was small she lived life to the full,
that grand gal named Katie O'Malley.
She'd watch butterflies dance, kept her eyes on the gull,
spent most of her days in the valley.
I was eighteen when she came on the scene,
a girl with red hair an' a dimple.
Wise beyond years but herself just a teen,
me, just a lad plain and simple.
The summer we met was like Eden in bloom,
we walked hand in hand through the meadow.
Pretend she's a bride and then I'd be her groom,
Neither would for any else settle.
The summer did end and my Katie did leave,
the memories will ne'er be forgotten.
I'd travel the world for her love, I believe,
this poor lad from Glasgow, in Scotland.
Wintertime came with a knock on my door,
a letter delivered, I wondered.
Could it be Katie, I pondered some more?
As I opened, I'd swear that it thundered!
Tears down my cheeks as I read the sad news,
Katie had perished that autumn.
The leaves on the trees had provided the ruse,
attached - her obi
On Bended KneeOn bended knee he knelt, and asked her for her hand.
She shed a little tear, together they would stand.
They'd build a life as one, he'd love her through the years.
She'd gladly bear his son, he'd help her with her fears.
The years went by so fast, gray hairs and weathered skin.
Yet still their love held fast, they stayed through thick and thin.
Children came and children went, now grand-babes on the way.
They couldn't wait to hold them, nor could they wait to play.
Then one cold winter night, he caught a fevered chill.
She doctored him with love, he took her little pills.
His fever never left, the days grew cold and hard.
She dreamt of days gone by, him working in the yard.
When it seemed that all was lost, and he was near the end,
she got on bended knee, knelt down beside her friend.
She looked up to the heavens, and prayed with all her might.
If only He would hear, then things would be alright.
As she looked into the night, the moon cast such a glow!
The stars were shining bright
What He NoticedHe noticed that her hair was as blonde as the sun,
perfectly brushed, hanging loosely about her shoulders.
He noticed that her lips were as red as crimson,
curled slightly up, in an everlasting smile.
He noticed that her wedding ring glistened in the light,
a band of gold, a reminder of good times past.
He noticed that her eyes were closed as if asleep,
those beautiful blues, the windows to her soul.
But what he noticed most of all was a heart no longer beating,
a chest no longer rising and falling with breath.
"This deafening silence; O to hear her laugh once again!"
As she lay there now in her eternal bedchamber,
her lifeless body as still as the hands of a broken timepiece,
he couldn't help notice, no, he couldn't help but notice...
That his life would never be the same.
Cherry MoonI met the girl I'd never leave one starlit summer night.
We walked along a wooded path till just about midnight.
I spoke to her poetic words, she sang a lovesick tune...
under a cherry moon
Her eyes were blue, her hair was blonde, her lips a shade of red.
I watched her as she danced a jig, for her my heart now bled.
I knew that day she was the one and that we'd marry soon...
under a cherry moon
I walked her home and stood with her outside her front porch door.
I kissed her gently on the cheek, my heart was wanting more.
I promised her that I'd return the twenty-fourth of June...
under a cherry moon
We wed that year before it's end and never once looked back.
We chose a night when moon was full and sky was reddish black.
I look back fondly on that night when love first came to bloom...
under a cherry moon
I won't forget the love she gave, the life that I have lived.
Her gentle ways and loving care was heaven's greatest gift.
The night she passed I died ins
Ode to James T. Kirk
Caesar of the stars,
Horatio in space.
Spent some time on Mars,
raised in another place.
Dashing, brave and true,
you made us dream again.
An earth so ever new,
where everyone's a friend.
Yet danger lurked out where
no man had gone before.
Spock and Bones made quite a pair,
your friends forevermore.
In you we see ourselves,
explorers to the end.
In space our yearning dwells,
till then we'll just pretend.
Afterglowevening sunlight, filtered
birds resting, silent
echoes heard, distinctly
breezy wind, intensifying
rain falling, softly
lightning flashes, brighter
heart pounding, faster
blood rushing, hotter
body movements, stronger
breathing rhythms, heavy
rainbow colors, flashing
firework display, dazzling
earth beneath, shaking
raging river, surging
Big Bang theory, confirmed!
flooding waters, ebbing
earth beneath, quivering
firework display, dimming
rainbow colors, morphing
breathing rhythm, slowing
body movements, subtle
blood flowing, normal
heart beating, steady
lightning flashes, over
wind blowing, lightly
echoes fading, distant
birds singing, sweetly
morning sun, unfiltered
Afterglow theory, confirmed!
The Color of Your EyesI remember the day we met, a chilly one, but fair.
Your hand eased gently into mine, birdsong was in the air.
We walked for what seemed like miles, you whispered to me your name.
I really loved the way you laughed, life was to you, a game.
We spoke intellectually, about life, hope, and love
I wondered if you were an angel, sent down from above.
The sun was brightly shining, with puffy white clouds on high.
But what really got to me that day, was the color of your eyes.
Decades now have passed us by, good times as well as bad.
Many of those days were happy, some of the nights were sad.
Children have come and gone for good, empty nesters we are.
Since then we've spent many a night, naming all the stars.
One thing, though, has never changed, and of this you can be sure.
I wouldn't trade a single day, my love's complete and pure.
And though I've witnessed many laughs, as well as many cries,
Those gentle orbs still get to me, yes... the color of your eyes!
wishing wells and pumpkin shells
coffee with mint cream
wedding bells and magic spells
life is but a dream
mother says it's rain today
drought's been sixteen years
pigs will fly and cats will stray
seventeen brings tears
hooting owls and leopard prowls
burn the midnight sun
men with jowls eat fattened cows
never had such fun
father says it's time to go
new year's 'round the bend
can't be late for nature's show
fish-face now the trend
dreamer's dream and lover's love
wishing time would fly
blue moonbeam on heaven's dove
hope I never die
DreamThere he stands,
The man simply known as Dream.
He's different now, fallen from grace,
And risen back up to it.
He was a joyous man, but he was beaten,
Torn and scarred, starved and tormented.
How did he get past it all they question me.
I know the answer, only because I asked him myself.
This is what he said to me,
"You can only be broken so much,
Eventually they stop trying,
Then you take every scar,
Every fracture and shattered piece,
And turn them into strengths and advantages.
Since they can't hurt you anymore,
You have nothing left to fear."
He turned his tortured soul into flawlessness.
That is who he is now, a happy wounded soul,
A perfect little broken Dream.
Wake up loveHush now,
I'm sorry the dream must end.
It's time to wake up
and face the world.
Reality is harsh,
the people are cold,
that's how it is
and you must wake up.
For you have been asleep long enough.
Time to wake love,
and be with your people
they wait for you
and have never given up.
You can't let them down.
The alarm's going off,
and reality is waiting.
You are only human
and cannot do much
but everyone is important
and life is waiting just for you.
Can you hear their cries?
And the bellows of pain?
You can stop them
but only if you wake up.
It's time to wake up love,
and face the world.
They cry for your return
and you can't let them down.
You've been with me.You've carried me in your arms.
You've protected me from harm.
The journey has been long.
Not much further shall it prolong.
I'm in the home stretch.
I'm close to finishing this race.
I've been through the darkness.
Overcame the obstacles I had to face.
You heard me when my voice felt unheard.
You listened to me rejoice and complain, ever single word.
I feel a sense of closure.
I've been trying to keep my composure.
Praise be to you my Lord!
I'll dance in the joy of hope.
Bring on the thunderstorm.
I want to see what else I can cope.
Life has its up and downs.
It gives you smiles and frowns.
I know you will always be near.
In Jesus, whom shall I fear?
An ode to a certain beautyThere's a certain beauty
That has captured my eye
Her friendship would behoove me
I can not pass her by
She may not be pencil thin
but to me, that is okay
She won't be taken by the wind
So her body I will not trade.
She may not be Americas top model
but there's no doubt that she is fine
The space between our eyes like tunnels
Their beauty traveling into my mind.
She may not be the next Einstein
But she is smart enough for me
She says the right thing at the right time
And puts my heart at ease
She may not be perfect to others
but everyone makes mistakes
The only real crime she has ever mustered
Was the taking of my heart today
She may not be be real popular
but she is just enough to make me laugh
She isn't scared of a little dirt
And always knows how to have a blast
So that's how I feel about this girl
How I fight to make her mine
but hopefully I'm the last man in the world
or she believes that "Love is blind"
So if you happen to see my girl
Pass this message, and be so kind
When one door closes...I’ve heard the saying
When one door closes, another opens,
I felt the disconnect and the lock clicked shut
It closed for just a moment
Then opened so hard
That it spun me
I went down in a haze of mixed emotions,
Not over my loss but feeling for you,
My wants mangling each other,
Eating each other alive,
Until there was nothing left
When the tears stopped
and you were there, waiting
I ran toward you
Wanting change, wanting freedom
Embracing an uncertain future
Your eyes were like the ocean
A swirling punch bowl of blue and white,
So inviting in their dance
So severe was the pull of your undertow
That I dove right in
Without a life preserver
Through your door I swam
With a tail like a mermaid
Propelling me face first
Into your warm water embrace,
With a smile
Meant just for you
It wasn’t what I wanted
At the time...
It was unexpected,
It was love laid out at my feet
In a trail of hot sand
That burned my toes
Until you carried me
I Am That GirlI'm the girl who writes poems
Because it helps me get my feelings out.
It's the only way I know how.
I'm the girl who will love anyone
No matter who they are.
I'm the girl, who can be annoying at times,
But I love life and everything in it.
I'm the girl who will always make
Room in her heart for someone,
Because I love just about everyone.
I'm the girl, who will flirt with you,
But never admit to you how I really feel.
I'm the girl who will truly love you.
No one will ever love you as much as I do.
It swallows you whole,
Exceeds your control.
Apprehends your soul,
Until it has taken its toll.
It’s an overwhelming feeling.
That is made to be appealing
And you can’t help revealing,
The doubts you are concealing.
It’s an undefined dimple
And a well known jingle.
But only when you are single
Does it all seem so simple.
It is one of life’s many gifts,
That empowers and uplifts
And can lead you adrift.
Should you miss your shift.
It is impossible to describe it.
It is impossible to fight it.
Because once it is ignited
And once you have tried it.
It will take your independence.
You will become used to its presence.
You will become addicted to its essence
And include it at the end of your every sentence.
It exists even in the hearts of its haters.
It is a taste even they will savour
And although its duration wavers.
There will never be a feeling that is greater.
Everything I have said and more.
I am merely repeating what you already know.
Yours, my loveYou are the light that still shines on me
FOr you I will pine eternally
YoU were the one who did set me free
YouR love will always my comfort be
RoseS smell sweetest, my fragrant plea
